4 Tranquil Places in Singapore for the Travelling Photographer

Tourist | Jun 25th, 2016 |

When it comes to travel photography, the fewer the people, the better. While our little red dot is known for its crowds, there are some gorgeous spots photography enthusiasts would love. These 4 places are lesser-known but absolutely perfect to capture Singapore from a unique perspective.
1. Mosaic Clock House PlaygroundMosaic Clock House Playground - singaporewest.sg
Considered an emblem of national nostalgia, this playground is a remembrance of an older Singapore and maintained as a tribute to older architectural designs by local artists. Built in 1988, it alludes to nursery rhymes children are familiar with and possesses a unique Singaporean flavour that simply cannot be replaced by their modernized counterparts we often see today. This is one of the few remaining playgrounds of a series of playgrounds inspired by nursery rhymes and the Singapore identity.
Address: Mosaic Clock House Playground, 176 Boon Lay Avenue, Singapore 640176
2. Johor Straits Lighthouse (Raffles Marina)Johor Straits Lighthouse (Raffles Marina) - singaporewest.sg
Tucked away in the corner of Tuas lies the Johor Straits Lighthouse. Whilst it is most commonly used to guide yachts coming in and out of the dock at Raffles Marina, the lighthouse has also served as a picturesque background for one a many photographs. This is a perfect spot for any photography junkie to capture beautiful sunsets and sunrises whilst enjoying the fresh sea breeze.
Address: Johor Straits Lighthouse, 10 Tuas West Drive, Singapore 638404
3. Kranji MarshesKranji Marshes - singaporewest.sg
One of the largest freshwater marshlands in Singapore, Kranji Marshes is home to more than 170 species of birds and dozens of species of flora and fauna that not many know Singapore is endowed with. It is a place for one to retreat from the hectic city life and gain greater appreciation of nature’s beauty. The lookout point, which gives a bird’s eye view of the entire area, as well as the swamp surrounded by rock paths and greenery make for great photo opportunities. In addition, with artistic features that come in the form of sculptures, and educational ones such as descriptions of green features, we assure you a visit here would be a fulfilling one.
